School Favourite groups are defined at an administrative level. Once defined, School Favourite Groups automatically become available to departmental users through their Favourites tab or as favourite groups of pupils to be selected when viewing or comparing data. School Favourite Groups can be used to identify groups of pupils that the school wishes staff to monitor. Groups can be defined using both shared and general fields as criteria. For example, groups may include: looked after pupils, ethnic minority groups, pupils whose Y8_NCL score is the same as their Y7_NCL score, Y11 pupils whose Y11_traffic_Light equals RED, Boys in Y9 with an NCL score of less than 6c and, for an extreme example, Y11 boys expecting less then 5 A*-C grades whose KS3 Average is greater than 7.0 and whose CAT average is greater than 100.

To add a new favourite group click on Add a new favourite group. See user defined groups for details on using the user defined groups module. When you have defined your group click on Save. A maximum of 100 School Favourite Groups may be defined and any favourites not used for over 365 days will automatically be deleted. Favourite groups that fail will also be automatically deleted. A favourite group may fail if a field name used in the group definition is subsequently edited or deleted.

Once a group has been defined several options become available. By hovering the mouse over the favourite name the group definition is displayed.

Subject Summary
To produce a subject summary displaying a list of pupils belonging to a favourite group for each subject click on the favourite name. A child window will open providing the option of downloading a report for each subject or a report for all subjects.
Note: If shared fields have been used in the group definition e.g. Shared: Y9_NCL, then a different list will be displayed for each subject. If only general fields are used in the group definition e.g. Looked_After, then the list will be the same for each subject.

You can also download a report containing the relevant subjects each pupil belongs to for a particular form or tutor group. For example, having created a School Favourite Group to highlight all the pupils in year 9 with a RED traffic light you can now generate a report for the tutor group 9C containing a list of pupils along with a list of subjects for each pupil where the Y9 Traffic Light field is RED. This would enable the form tutor of 9C to instantly see which subjects each pupil in his tutor group is underachieving in.
