From the Departmental Homepage, click the Go button next to Add/Edit data. At the base of the screen click on Import data from text/csv file.

The import tools within Pupil Tracking are extremely powerful and are optimised to import many columns and thousands of rows of data at high speed over a standard dial-up connection.

Pupil Tracking can import any data in text or csv file format providing a common primary key is used. If your data is in Excel you can easily save your files in text or csv format. Likewise, you can open and manipulate existing text or csv files in Excel. Any existing database or spreadsheet application should be able to export in either Excel, text or csv format.

Use 'Ctrl+click' or drag the mouse to select the fields to be updated from the Available Department Fields: box. Pass the selected fields to the Fields to be updated: box using the horizontal arrows. Next click View necessary file format. A child window will open containing the order of columns that Pupil Tracking is expecting the csv or text file to contain. At this point it is possible to either re-order the columns in Excel to match the necessary file format, or use the vertical arrows to make the column order match the order of columns in the csv or text file.

Click on Browse to locate the csv or text file to be imported, then click on Upload to upload your file to Pupil Tracking.
