Other questions about importing data have been answered in the FAQs below:
Q. What is the best process to follow when updating sets at the beginning of a new school year? A. It will help if you follow the steps below:
Q. When I export sets from SIMS NOVA the column headings do not appear in the file. Is this normal? A. Unfortunately yes. You will have to manually re-enter the column headings. However, if you save the file you have created you will be able to copy and paste the row containing the column headings into any files you subsequently export. Q. What happens if there are Adm_No's (UPNs) in the text or csv file I import that do not exist on Pupil Tracking? A. Nothing. Adm_No's in your file that do not exist on Pupil Tracking will be ignored. Q. What is the maximum file size I can upload to Pupil Tracking? A. 0.5MB Q. When I import data what will happen if I include more columns in my file than fields I have chosen to update? A. In the case of an UPDATE Pupil Tracking will return a warning if the number of fields you have chosen to update does not match the number of columns in your file. In the case of an INSERT (importing new pupils) Pupil Tracking only reads the 1st column in your file regardless of how many columns are included. Please note, every column in your text or CSV file must have a column heading. Blank columns between populated columns should be removed. Q. When I imported a file the Pupil Tracking confirmation box reported 1 less column than I actually included in my file? A. The Adm_No is not considered data when performing an UPDATE, it is merely there to match data to pupils. Pupil Tracking will report a file containing Adm_No, Surname, Forename, Year, Form, DOB as containing 5 columns of data not 6. |
